    His Honor the Secretaries Returne about the State house Lib. C. B.

  Read was as followeth Vizt

 

             St Maries October 13th 1693

  Secretaries According to a late Order of Councill to me

  Ret about directed to View the Condition of the State house in

 

  house company of a Workeman and to returne a Certificate

  of an Estimate how the Offices & Records and Amunition

  may be secured this Winter; I have Yesterday together with

  Mr Cheseldyn & Richard Benton brick layer viewed the said

  State house and doe fade his Utmost Demands for shoreing

  VP the Walls which leane out on each side the Staire case and

  repaireing the tileing of the Secretaries & Comissaries Offices

  pointing the Windows and bricking vp the Windows of the

  Upper loft where it rains into the Powder Roome will not

  amount to above Six thousand of Tobacco and that he will p. 36

  prepare all Materialls within Ten or Twelve days to goe about

  the same if the Weather be favourable

    Coll Greenberry & the Gentlemen of the Councill

 

 

    Ordered that the Reparation thereof be pursued accord

  ingly, and that the Workemen be paid their Tobacco in this

  County, at the laying the Publick Leavye.

 

  Sr Tho: Sr Thomas Laurence Representeth vnto this

  Laurence Representa- Board the Neglect of Mr John Llewellin in his

  tion abt Mr duty dureing the time he officiated as Clerk of Tal

  Llewellin &            .

  Ordrs bot County Court seting forth his omission as to

  thereon the Entrye of most of that Courts Proceedings in

         his time taken, to the great prejudice and damage

  of the Suiters thither comeing, and that he Understood the sd

  Liewellin was vpon goeing for England, therefore desired that

  (as the said County Records were part of the trust Reposed

  in him by their Majties as Secretary and forasmuch as he had

  recd severall Complaints from the inhabitants of that County

  in relation to the premisses) the said LLewellin might be called

  before this Board and caused to give security for his speedy

  compleating the said County Records together with the Land

  Office Records, and that the same might by the said LLew

  ellin be finished and delivered vp before he goes for England.

  And the said Sr Thomas further set forth that whereas the

  said LLewellin had by a Coinission from the late Governt

  officiated as Notary Publick whereby not onely the Rights of
