Lib. C. B. afterwards the said Coll Darnall & Mr Richard Smith came again to this Deponts house and Required him to performe his promiss, to which this Depont made Answer that the Press & Letters were none of his and therefore could not complye therewith without Order, and that the said Coll Darnall & Mr Smith were pressing & Urgent for this Deponts printing the said Warrants, but this Deponent did not print the same, and further saith not. Sworne to in Councill the day & yeare above written H Denton Cl Concil
Printer Or- Wherevpon it was Ordered by advice in Councill, dered to de- . . sist from that the Printer hereafter presume to print noething printing any but blank bills & Bonds, without leave from his thing but Exncy or the further Order of this Board.
Bonds
Ordr for Whereas Information hath been made to this Surveyors appointed Board by Mr Edward Batson of Calvert County that by the Gov- Mr Richard Smith of the said County hath Nominated
tin & appointed severall Roman Catholiques to be further Ordr Deputy Surveyors in severall of the Counties within this Province, Under pretence of an Authority to him Granted from the Lord Baltemore to be Surveyor Genll And whereas Capt John Addison one of the Members of this board hath likewise Represented that the said Mr Smith hath actually placed & put in one Charles Brooke of Charles County and that he designed to put in one Richard Edelen of St Maries P. 35 County both knowne Papists, to be Deputy Surveyrs in the said Counties; And further whereas the said Capt Addison did likewise here informe that he heard the said Mr Smith in publick company declare that those persons that would not take his word for the Power which he pretended to have, he would never give them other satisfaction Ordered therevpon by advice in Councill and it is hereby Ordered that the severall Surveyors already constituted & appointed by the Governmt doe still continue acting in their said Stations & places pur sueant to his Exncies Proclamation for the continuance of all Officers Civill & Military within this Province, Untill further Ordr And that noe other person or persons presume to Act by Vertue of any other Comission to them Granted save onely such as have been constituted & appointed by the Governmt as aforesd And that a Copy of this Ordt be sent to each Surveyor soe appointed, To the End all persons concerned may take due Notice thereof.
