Lib. H. D. Ordered that the said matter be Referred to be considered p. 191 off in a fuller Councill, being a thing of so considerable
importance
his Exncys His Exncy haveing sent for what Burgesses were Ordr for adjournign the in Town, as also the Justices of the Provinciall Cort provll Cort & & Lawyers did discourse them in Councill -about the proroguing the assmbly Meeting of the Assembly & Adjourning of the said Whitehall to the 2d of Octobr Court, proposing Whether it would not be most con- next &ca venient & least charge to have them both at one time in the beginning of October Next, & that they would speake if they have any thing to say to the Contrary p. 206 Who haveing nothing to say to the Contrary His Exncy was pleased to Order as it is hereby Ordered that the Provinciall Court be Adjourned to the 2d day of October next, being Wednesday and the Assembly further Prorogued until that time, And that Proclamation issue to give Notice of the Same, was Accordingly done, produced & Read & was Signed by his Exncy & passed the Broad Seal of the Province, The Tenor whereof follows in these words, Vizt

Proclamacon Whereas the Genll Assembly of this Province for proroga tion of the begun & held at the City of Snt Maries the 20th day Assembly & of September last past, by Severall Adjournmts & ajournmt of the Provll by prorogation on the 22th of May Ao 1695 Stands
Cort &ca now prorogued unto the tenth day of Septembr next ensuing. And Forasmuch as it doth not appear at present that any Matters of Moment importing his Mats Service or well fare of the Countrey will Offer themselves at that time to the Consideracon of the sd Assembly wth might then require their Meeting; It being besides upon the Mature deliberation and Advice of severall Gentl. of the house of Burgesses & Justices of the Provll Cort & Lawyrs (being thereunto called) considered that the Meeting of the Assembly and holding the Provinciall Cort both at one time may be very suitable & proper & less expensive to the Countrey I have therefore (by & wth the Concurrent Advice of his Mats honoble Councill) thought fit, and I do hereby fully Resolve, determain, & Ordain, that the said Genll Assembly be further Prorogued unto the Second day of October next ensuing; And that the Prov” Cort be then likewise held dureing wch time (pursuant to former Rules & Orders) will likewise sit the Court of Chancery & the Governr & Councill for hearing Appeals & Writts of Error Whereof the severall Sherriffs of the Province
