    Meech takes The said Thomas Meech had administred unto Lib. H. D,

    the Oaths &ca In the him by his Exncy the Oathes appointed by act of

    presence of Parliamt to be taken instead of the Oathes of Alleg

    dolph &ca iance and Supremacy the Oath of Trade and Navi

    gation & Subscribed to the Test in the presence of

   

    the honble Edward Randolph Esqr Surveyor Genll of their Mats

    Customes &ca And George Plater Esqr Collector & Receiver

    of their Mats Duties within the District of Petuxant.

   

      Oath of Trade and Navigation taken by Capt Thomas

    Meech comissionated to Cruise &ca to Obstruct false Trade is

    as follows Vizt

   

    Oath of Trade &     You shall swear that you will to the best of your

    Navigation skill & power so long as you shall continue in any

           Comand of Cruizing wth in the Province or Else

    where in pursuance of the Comission Granted you for the

    same, well & truly Execute and pforme, & cause to be Exe

    cuted & performed all matters & things wch by the Statute

    made in the yeare of his late Maty King Charles the

    Second his Reign Entituled an Act for the Encouraging &

    increasing of Shipping & Navigation; & by the other Statute

    made in the 15th Yeare of his Mats Reign Entituled An Act

    for the Encouragemt of Trade, you are Required as Officer

    in trusted for the Command aforesaid to be sworn to the per

    formance of                   So help you God

   

           Snt Maries City in Maryland June 28th 1695  p. 188

      I the Subscriber do declare that I do believe that there is

    not any transubstantiation in the Sacramt of the Lords Supper

    or in the Elements of bread & wine at or after the Consecracon

    thereof by any person whatsoever Thos Meech

    Meehs  Maryland ss

    Bond for Know all men by these presents that wee Thomas

    Cruiseing Meech Robert Mason and Philip Clarke all of Snt

    Maries County Gentl: are holden and firmly bounden unto

    his EXDCY Francis Nicholson Esqr Capt Genll and Governr in

    Chief in and over their Mats Province and Territoryes of

    Maryland in the full & Just Sume of three thousand pounds

    Sterl: lawfull Currant Money of England to be paid to his

    said Exncy his heirs Exrs or Admrs to the which payment well

    and truly to be made Wee bind ourselves and either of us

    our and either of our heirs Exrs or Admrs in the whole and for

    the whole jointly and Severally firmly by these presents Sealed

    with our Seales dated in Maryland the 28th day of June Anno
