Lib. H. D. Bonds be performed These Certificates are to be signed by 4 or more of the Comissioners of the Customs in England for the time being, and Certificates thereof produced and on forfieture thereof tht they be prossecuted. And for this end if any Ship or Vessell wch hath given such Bond shall happen to arrive again wth you, you are to demand of her Master a Certificate of such Shipps having discharged her former load ing according to such Bond and if he produce no such Cer tificate that such Bond be put in process without further delay. And in all Cases where Bond hath been given; If you can discover & make proof that any such Ship or Vessell hath discharged her loading contrary to her bond or that a conven ient time hath past in expectation of the return of a Certificate of her unlading according to the Tennor of her Bond and that no Certificate is returned you are to take like care tht the Bond be putt in process. 8thly You shall from time to time Correspond wth the Col lectors of their Majestes Customs in Maryland and inspect the clearings of all Ships and Vessells in their Books in order to the better discovery of forged Certificates & Cocquets & shall inform them of such matters as shall come to your knowledge tht may be of use to them in their Majtys service. 9thly You shall give to the Governr of Maryland a true & Exact Journall of your proceedings every three months or oftener & you shall observe such rules Orders and directions as from time to time you shall receive from him in Order to the better observation of the Acts of Trade & Navigation contained in a Book of Rates herewith transmitted to you and these Instructions in pursuance thereof and be otherwise Subject to the Superior Command of the said Governr in all things for their Majesties Service. ifra: Nicholson.
