Coll Cour- Coll Henry Coursey of Talbot County being Lib. H. D. admitted in makes the following Report unto his Sr Edward Exncy & the Board concerning some discourse he Andross &ca had with his Exncy Sr Edmond Andros touching the Colledge in Virginia, Vizt That when the sd Sr Edmond came over into this Province he went to pay his respects to him at Majr Sewalls house where in discourse he was telling the sd Sr Edmond that there was no sort of provision made in this Countrey for the Educa- p. 164 tion of Youth, but that he hoped when the Colledge of Vir ginia was built it would be of great benefit & Service to all these parts, to which the said Sr Edmond made answer, pish, it will come to nothing.
Comissary Moved by Mr Commissary Genll to his Exncy in tion aht his Councill that an Ordr may pass for the Records of Record &ca his Office to be lodged in some Roome in this Court
house to be fited up for the said End & purpose.
Order abt Upon Representation Ordered that the Clerke of County Clk . . making oath each respective County Court within this Province to List of do for the future (when they draw out a List of the Whitehail ffynes&ca Severall ffines passed in the said Courts to be trans
mitted to their Mats Receiver Generall) make Oath to the same before one of the Justices of the said County before such Returne is made And that the Sherriffs Serve this Order upon the said Clks and Make Returne of their having so done unto this Board withall Convenient Speed whereby ignorance may not be pleaded.
The Councill of Marylands Answer to the Letter by them Recd from their Mats Honble Councill of New Yorke is as fol lows Vizt

Councill of your Letter to him (from no place) of the first of March 1694/5 wherein you take Notice that his Exncy your Governr Received a Lettr believed to be from his Exncy our present Governr though not Signed by him, which if so, was occasioned by Mistake and not designed: Wee therefore send you now here inclosed a Duplicate thereof, as also of the two papers then sent therewith to his Whitehall Exncy your Governr Your Lettrs With an Accot of Governr Copleys Protested Bill & Damages amounting to the Sume of 4531 Sterl were sent to the House of Burgesses and their
