Relateing by his Exncy Governr Copley, but whether for service to the pro. of this Province or not is vnknown to Us nor does any Request or consent of the Representative Body Sent to of this Province appeare for the Same This Wee New Yorke Whitehall humbly Represent vnto your Exncy as the sence of this house on the premises praying your Exncies and the Coun cills concurrence therewith. Councill again Sate & were prsent as before Except Esqr Courts Capt Philip Capt Philip Hoskins according to Summons Hoskins ap pearance & appears at the Board who being Asked by his Exncy discharge the Reason of his Neglect in not coming to the
Speciall Court Constituted for deciding a certain controversy depending betwixt Capt Paul Bickford & Joshua Broadbent of which said Court he was appointed one of the Justices, for Excuse sayes, he was so Sick at that time, that he was not able to Traviell therefore hoped his Exncy & the honble Board would not Censure him in a Matter No wayes occasioned by his owne Neglect, the honble Coll John Addison does say that he believes the same is true & knows that he ever was diligent in dis charge of his Duty at County Courts Whereupon the Board thought fit to acquitt him from further attendance or Censure about that Matter. May18th1695.
Councill again Sate & were Present as before Except Coll Greenberry Capt Courts & Mr Frisby. Order abt Ordered that the Sherriffe of Each County (upon Change of . . . Gunpowder Sight hereot) forthwith give Notice to the Severall &ca Military Officers in their Respective Counties, have- Whitehall ing Charge of any publick powder belonging to this Province that Where they find the same to prove bad they take care to get the same changed this Shipping.
