persons as he shall thereunto Authorize and Appoint, the Lib. H. D. Duty of ffourteen pence p Ton for Port Duty's or Anchorage, for his owne use of Right belonging to him by Law as Lord Propriator of the Province of Maryland. Ordered as it is hereby Ordered that when the publick Accots of the Revenue belonging to this Province are by the severall Navall Officers fully brought in and stated pursuant to former Order of this Board, the Petitionr then have attested Copyes of the Same, according as he hath prayed. Councill Again Sate and Were present as Yesterday. Capt Bar- Came and Appeared, according to Summons, tons appear. And Capt William Barton of Charles County, Who being discharg asked the Reason of his Neglect in suffering the from further - Attendance speciall Court (whereof he was appointed Chief Judge to determaine a certain difference depending
betwixt Capt Paul Bickford and Mr Joshua Broadbent) for to fall; The said Capt Barton to Excuse himselfe says, that at the two first meetings he attended the said Court, but that upon the last adjournmt he could not possibly be there, being indisposed aged & a great distance off and hard Weather then likewise falling out ; The honble John Courts Esqr does in behalfe of the said Capt Barton likewise say that he aiwayes observed the said Barton to be diligent in performance of his duty at the County Courts, And therefore believes that what he has said is truth, Who thereupon is Excused from his further attendance
Order to the Whereas the Sherriffe of Charles County by p. 161 Charles Comand from his the Governr was Ordered County to that he should Summons the severall Gentl appointed to be a Spll Court for the deciding & determining a Capt Hos- certain controversy depending between Joshua
Anwere &ca Broadbent & Capt Paul Bickford, to be and appear at Ann Arrundell Town in Ann Arrundell County by the 8th day of May instant, to shew cause why they Suffered the said Court to fall; pursuant to which said Order or Sum mons Capt Philip Hoskins one of the said Justices has not (as yet) Appeared; It is therefore Ordered that if the said Sherriffe has sumoned the said Hoskins, he imediatly go & take into Custody the body of the said Philip Hoskins to Answer the contempt, and -if not already Summoned, that he forth with give him Notice to be and Appear before his Exncy and Coun cill at Ann Arrunde!l Town by the day of May instant. Coll John Addison comes and Takes his place at the Board.
