   consultacons lately had wth the Northern Indians all which this p. ‘45

   house haveing duly Weighed and considered in answer to

   which Wee say that the great vnavoidable and continuall

   charges occasioned here by the late revolution and the vast

   Surnes of money expended by our Severall Agents in England

   out of the Publick Revenue of this Province Together with

   the vast Sumes of Money & Tobacco in arreares which are

   now come to be paid besides the Continuall charge of Severall

   Troops constantly kept out for the security of our ifrontier

   Plantacons these with other like Circumstances doe Incapaci

   tate Us to Yeild any Supply or Assistance to the said

   Governmt of New York and Albany at this Juncture And as to

   the severall Articles contained in the said Treatise relateing to

   the Covenant Chaine renewed in which Wee find ourselves

   together with the severall Colonies included for which wee

   returne our hearty thanks and shall ever acknowledge it both

   our duty and Intrest vpon all occasions to use our utmost

   Endeavour for the preservation safty and Wellfare of all their

   Mats Subjects within these their Mats Territories of America

   and more Especially for those to Whom Wee acknowledge

   our selves soe signally and highly Obliged

     At a Conference held at the City of Snt Maries the 15th day

   of October Anno Dom 1694 Between his Exncy the Govr &

   Councill & the house of Burgesses in Assembly convened

  

  Governrs   De- His Exncy demanding that in case the fforraign

          Indians which lately came into this Governmt should

   Indians &ca come again with intent to sit downe and seat here,

   what answer should be Given them; Mr Speaker thereupon Whitehall

   produced the Sence of the house in Writing as to that partic

   ular the which runes in the following Words Vizt

  

        By the Burgesses of Assembly October 15th 1694

   The House With submission to your Exncies beter Judgmt This

   of Burgesses house doth not think fitt at this Juncture of time to

  

   opinion abt Receive & Entertairie any fforraigne Nation of

   fforraigne

   Indians &Ca Indians

                 Signed p Ordr C Lomax Clk Assembly.

  

                      Post Meridiem

     Taken into consideracon the House of Burgesses sence & p. 146
