192 Proceeedings of the Council of Maryland, 1694 97.
Lib. H. D. (lyeing so thick dead vp & down the Countrey) may occasion noisome smels and become very obnoxious & prejudiciall to the healths of the inhabitants & others living within this prov ince vnless some speedy care be taken to burye them, for prevention whereof and to the End such speedy & due care may be taken as is meet I have (by and with the advice of their Majesties honoble Councill) thought fit to Order and Command & I do hereby accordingly Order Charge & Com mand all Officers Civill & Military within this Province immedi atly (after publication hereof made) to give Notice & directions Whitehall to all and singular the inhabitants living within their severall & respective precincts round about that they forthwith cause all such persons as have hoggs or swine, Cattle or horses &c: lying dead in or about their plantations or Land to burye them out of hand a sufficient depth vnder ground To which End I likewise straitly Enjoyn all and singular the Sheriffes of this province to make publick proclamation hereof (within two dayes after Receipt of the same) in the most publick & con venient places within their severall & respective Counties willing also & requiring all persons concerned to yield due & ready obedience herevnto as they & every of them will answer the contrary at their perill.
Given at Benedict Leonard Town in Calvert County the 24th day of January & in the Sixth year of the Reign of our Soy eraign Lord & Lady King William & Queen Mary

Ordered that the Burgesses of Charles County have Notice to be at the Assembly to be held at Ann Arrundell Town in Ann Arrundell County the last day of ffebry next

Books, Writings & papers lying at the State house in the severall Offices within the said City And that publick notice be given to signifye that all other persons who are minded may be there & then present, and such papers & Writings as they find to be of no great Use; Whitehall Ordered that they bundle them vp & lay them by in some safe place and tht Coll Darnall have Notice to be then likewise present and as to all other Records, papers & Writings,
