18 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1693 94.
P. R. O. that the proceedings of the Governor and Councill in this B. Maryland matter are illegal and arbitary their Lordships are of opinion that the Governor and Councill of Maryland be directed to
give Sir Thomas Lawrence a Copy of the Articles transmitted against him and that he return his answer unto them to the end their Majestys pleasure thereupon may be known and that in the mean time Sir Thomas Lawrence be sett at Liberty and be restored to his places of Councill and Judge of the Provin ciall Court and that he receive no molestation or Disturbance in the enjoyment of his office of Secretary of Maryland accord ing to his former order in Councill of the second of March last. And that permission be given in Maryland to examine all persons that shall give Evidence in this matter without any hindrance or discountenance to such persons as Sir Thomas shall desire to be examined on his behalf Her Majesty in Councill approving the same is this day pleased to order as it is hereby ordered accordingly That the Governor and Coun cill of Maryland do give Sir Thomas Lawrence a Copy of the Articles transmitted against him and that lie Iw thwith rcturn to this board his answer in writing to the said Articles to the end their Majestys pleasure thereupon may be known and that in the mean time the said Sir Thomas Lawrence may be sett at liberty and be restored to his places as Councillor and Judge of the Provinciall Court in Maryland and that he receive no molestation or disturbance in the enjoyment of his Office of Secretary of that Province according to his Majestys order in Councill of the second of March last and that permission be given in Maryland to examine all persons that shall give evi dence in this matter without any hindrance or discountenance to such persons as the said Sir Thomas Lawrence shall desire to be examined on his behalf.
