Booke and the said Pryor is referred to the Assembly for

tryall.
The Depositions are (vizt)

The Examination of Thomas Gerard gentl taken upon
oath made before his honor the Chancelor this 5th of May 1682 ;
by me Tho: Burford Attorney gen" as followeth
Imprs the sd Thomas Gerard being asked what he knew
concerning any skinns bought by one John Pryor Mrchant now
resideing at the house of said Gerard at Westwood of any
Indian or Indians or others or by any other for said Pryors vse
Answered that he never saw him buy a skinn of any Indian
this voyage, nor he never bought any for him, nor doth he
know of any other person that hath bought for sd Pryors use,
nor knoweth any thing concerning the premisses.

The Examination of Patrick Innes Chyrurgion of Capt
Harris master of the shipp Gerard now lyeing in Wicocomico
taken this 5th of May 1682: upon Oath before his honor the
Chancelor by me Tho: Burford Attr Genll
Imprs the sd James being asked what he knew of One John
Pryor Mrchant now resideing at Westwood in St Maries
County concerning his buying of any Deere skinns of the
Indians or others or what he sd thereof to One Edward Turnor
Answered that he never spoke to sd Turnor any word or
Syllable concerning any skinns bought by said Pryor of Indian
or Indians, nor directly nor indirectly knoweth of any such
thing nor any for his vse and further knoweth not

The Examination of Dennis Huscula of Se Maries County
Planter taken upon oath made before his honor the Chancelol
this 5th Day of May 1682: by me Tho: Burford Att Genll as
followeth.

The sd Dennis being asked what he knew, and urged
to Declare the whole of what he could say concerning John
Pryor Mrchant his purchaseing of skinns of Indians or others
saith
That he hath often been lately amongst the Indians to buy
skinns of them and they did informe this Examinant, that all
that they could gett they had lately disposed off to the sd John
Pryor Mrchant that keepeth store at Westwood, and to One
James Smallwood of Charles County, and that this Examinant
heard Capt James Bowleing say that he heard Mr Mudd say
that he had seene skinns at Weslwood store.
