To the honble his Lsps Councill in Councill sitting
The humble petition of Abraham Gale of Somrsett County
humbly sheweth
That your petr according to an ordr granted him the 30th of
May last by this honble Councill, did proffer to give caution to
Henry Staples by the obligation of Coll Coursey, for the pay-
ment of two thousand four hundred pounds of tobacco,
together with Eight p C thereupon for forbeareance, to have
been made good to the said Staples or his ordr by the Tenth
of October last as is sett forth in the said ordr passed by this
Honble Councill (hereunto annexed) and upon the giveing of
such caution, that then the said Staples should immediately
deliver to your petr his child according to an ordr passed in
Talbott County Court as is at large sett forth in a former
petition preferred, (hereunto likewise annexed) but the said
Staples contemptuously rejecting your Honors aforesaid ordr
made answer that he had sold your Petrs Child and did not
care a rush for the ordr which was granted by this honble
Councill, soe that your Petr still remaines without releife, and
therefore humbly prayes further assistance from your Honrs in
the premisses And your Honors poore petr shall
ever pray &c:
Whereupon issued this foll precept to the sheriff of Kent
County viz.

Warrt to take into custody Henry Staples
By the Councill March 3d 1685.
Maryland ss:
You are hereby willed and required, as also strictly charged
& commanded forthwith to apprehend and take into your
custody Henry Staples of your County, and him safely keepe
soe that you have him before his Lsps Councill, at the time of
the next Provll Court to answer unto the complaint of Abra-
ham Gale, and his contempt of an ordr of this board there-
upon passed, whereof let there be noe faile
