good & sufficient Hogg pen, And that if the Constable doe at
any time after the Tenth day of November next ensueing doe
or shall any manner of hogs to come or ffeed or be within the
City not being in such sufficient Hog penns as aforesaid con-
trary to the true intent hereof, that he doe cause the sd hogs
to be pounded and kept in such place or pound as he shall
think fitt to secure them, where the said hogs shall remaine
till the Owner doe pay to the sd Constable Six pence a piece
for the pounding such hogs piggs or shoate or other hogs
whatsoever.
Item. It is further enacted ordeined and established that
from henceforth forward the Constable of the said City for the
time being doe and shall every yeare in the moneth of August
take a list of all and singular the Inhabitants taxable persons
within the said City, and make a returne to the then next
Court to be held for the said City a faire list of the names and
Sir names of all and singular the ffreemen and servants and
negros inhabiting there, that soe the Court may further ordr
therein as to them shall seeme meete, and the same to be
returned to the Councill upon makeing up the publick leavy
for such yeare, and the leavy to be layd upon the taxables of
the said City when occasion shall require.
Item It also is hereby Ordeined Enacted and Established
that the Constable of the said City for the time being shall on
the last Saturday in every moneth to commence from the date
hereof, goe in and upon the severall roads and high waies
leading to, in, and about the said City, and view and see the
same roads, and (if occasion require) take with him sufficient
help and assistance from the Inhabitants there as he shall
think sufficient for the repaireing cleareing, amending, and
makeing the aforesaid roads, passable, both for horse, cart,
and foote, and what charge may accrue thereby the same to
be paid and allowed out of the ffines and fforfeitures as shall
be layd or imposed upon any pson by the Court
