Six men well armed. He is called and hath the same Com-
municated to him haveing first taken an oath of Secrecy, not
to divulge the same to any till such time as he takes him away,
least there be an attempt to Escape, and he is ordered to make
all speedy preparations for the voyage, while such time as his
precept may be drawne, and a Letter written to the Govern"
of Virg3 on this occasion, wch are both as foll viz:)

of Virginia.
Maryland ss: By the Councill
In obedience to his Majties Commands signified by the Rt
honble the Lord Propry of this Province to his Depty Govrns here,
and by them this day communicated to this board.
It is considered and ordered by this board, and command is
hereby given to Mr Gilbert Clarke, that forthwith he demand
of the Sheriff of St Maries County, and take into his safe
custody, the body of Coll George Talbott, and him with a guard
of Six Select able men well and sufficiently armed and pro-
vided with swords, Gunns, pistolls, and ammunition to trans-
port and convey over into Virginia to be delivered unto the
Rt honble ffrancis Lord Effingham his Majties Governor Gen" of
that Collony, for his Majesties service.
In order whereunto, and the better to Enable him the said
Clark to execute and pforme this his precept, power and
authority is hereby given him, And he is fully authorised and
impowered to impress and take six able select men armed and
provided as aforesaid (such as he shall think fitt, and cann
best confide in, for the service aforesd as also to press a good
substantiall boate, Sloope, or Shallop with four men and provi-

sions sufficient for that purpose, and take with him the saic
Coll George Talbott guarded as aforesaid, and forthwith con-
vey and transport him over into the said Collony of Virginia
to be delivered to the said Lord Effingham as aforesaid, and
upon such delivery to crave his Lsps acknowledgmt thereof by
receipt under his hand, for his Majties Service.
Hereby also earnestly requesting and desireing All and
singular the Magistrates Officers, and others his Majties Loving
Subjects within the sd Collony of Virginia (upon the arriveall
of the sd Gilbert Clark and his charge there,) to afford him all
necessary aid and assistance, in the secure and safe conduct
and guard of them to the said Lord Effingham, pursuant to
this precept, and for his Majties Service; In full confidence and
assureance of the like undeniable neighbourly kindness and
correspondency upon all occasions from this Governmt
