publick charge of the Province, be proposed, and made good
to him upon the retakeing and delivering the sd two Indians
again into the safe custody of some Officer or Officers within
this Province qualified to receive them, sending also over what
Indian Evidences may be procured agt them at their tryall, to
be maintained with necessary and convenient provision and
accommodations at the publick charge of the Province, untill
such the sd Indians shall have reed their sd tryall; And it is
further ordered that the sd Majr Taylor together with Xpher
Nutter Interpreter attend the said Coll William Stevens at
such time and place as he shall appoint to the end and pur-
pose aforesaid: The whole proceedings whereof, under the
hands, as well of him the said Coll Wm Stevens, as of the said

Majr Taylor and Christopher Nutter, to be transmitted to
his Lsps: Councill at the City of St Maries with all speed. Dated
at the Councill Chamber at the City of St Maries the Thirtyeth
day of Septemb: in the Tenth yeare of the Dominion of the
Rt honble Charles &ca Annoq Dmi. 1685:

Justices assigned for tryall of sd Indians Coll Darnall Coll
Digges Majr Sewall Mr Hatton Mr Hill
Ordered also that upon the retreiveing of the said Prisoners,
The honble Coll Henry Darnall, Coll Henry Digges, and Majr
Nicholas Sewall, together with Mr Wm Hatton, & Mr Clement
Hill, or any four of them, whereof the said Coll Henry
Darnall or Coll Digges to be One, be by especiall Comon of
Oyer and Terminer, Justices especially assigned for the tryall
and condemnation or acquitting of the said Indians.
Memdu on the second day of October 1685 at the City of
St Maries, at the request of John Beare Master of Defence and
by the ordr of the honble Coll Thomas Taillor, Coll Vincent
Lowe, Coll Wm Digges, and Majr Nicholas Sewall was
granted the following lycense for the playing of a prize at
the sd City of St Maries (viz.)
Lycense for prize playing
Maryland ss. By the Councill
Lycense is hereby given to John Beare and Richard Land,
to play a prize at the severall weapons belonging to the noble
science (such as shall be agreed on by them) publickly at such
