others concerned be encouraged to goe forward in soe good

a designe, soe as to have their severall and respective build-
ings finished by the 25th of December next in assurance that
at the next Gen" Assembly this board together with the rest
of the members of the upper and Lower houses of Assembly
will become humble Sutors to his Lsp to have their severall and
respective Lotts then Confirmed to them.

Marriage without lycense to strangers phibited.

Ordered also that all magistrates, Priests, Ministers, or
others, any waies qualified to marry or joine in matrimony any
persons, be prohibited to perform the same to any persons,
strangers from Virginia, or else where, without lycense or

Certificate from some Magistrate or other person within this
Province thereunto legally authorised and empowered of
haveing past due Examination, and that the parties desire-
ing the same may lawfully be joined together.

Two Indians Escaped being apprehended for the murder of
one Griffin Evans.

Taken into consideration the Escape of two Indian prison-
ers Subject to the Emperour of Nantecoke, and taken into cus-
tody for the murder of one Griffin Evans late Servant to Mr
Daniel Clarke of Dorchester County. The result whereof
passed into this following ordr viz:

Ordr concerning their retreive.

By the Councill
Maryland ss:
Whereas One Sampson and one two Indians under the
Subjection of the Emperour of Nantecoke, being charged with
and committed for the murder of Griffin Evans, late Servant to
Mr Daniel Clark of Dorchester County within this Province,
have broke prison, and Escaped out of custody, thereby ren-
dring themselves guilty of the crime aforesaid: Wherefore
that Justice may not be obstructed, but that the said Prisoners
may be (if possible) retreived, and soe horrid a crime severely
and duely prosecuted and proceeded against according to law.
It is considered and ordered by this board, that application be
made to the said Emperour of Nantecoke by the honble Coll
William Stevens of Sommersett, and Major Thomas Taylor of
Dorchester County thereunto especially authorised and
empowered, and that a reward of twenty Match Coates at the
