James Ringold's petition

To the honble his Lsps Councill appointed &c.
The humble petition of James Ringold of Kent County
Humbly sheweth
That at a Provinciall Court held at the City of St Maries the
ffourth day of March Anno Dmi. 1684: One Michael Miller
obteined judgemt agt your petr upon an accon of Trespass
upon the case to the damages of two and twenty thousand
pounds of tobacco and costs of suite, which sd judgemt was
obteined contrary to Law, and therefore is manifestly Erro-
neous (as may hereafter appeare) to the greate damage of
your petr
Your petr therefore humbly prayes your Honors to award
him his Ldsps writt of Error upon the judgemt aforesaid to the
Justices of the Provinciall Court to be directed, requireing
them to send to the upper house of the next generall
Assembly, the transcript of the Record process proceedings
and judgemt aforesaid, that inspection being thereinto had, his
said Lsp in the said upper house of Assembly, may cause to be
done therein, what of right and according to the Lawes of this
Province, ought to be done; and likewise his Lsps writts of
Sciri facias, and supersedeas thereupon, according to an Act
of Assembly in that case made and provided. Your sd Petr
giveing security therefore.
And your Petr as in duty bound shall ever pray &c.

Ordr for writt of Error &c

Ordered that writt of Error and sciri facias issue, And (if
Execution be not served) lett Supersedeas also issue as is
prayed, The petr giveing good security for the same

Unto your Honors that your Petr hath lately obteined a Com-
mission from your Honors to be Commandr of Christina ffort,
And being willing- & desirous in all thinges to behave himself
