darke, our humble request unto your Honors is that we may
have a view of the said goods whereby to enable us to depose
whither they be ours or not.
Wee further humbly request of your Honors upon owneing
our goods, and Deposeing thereunto your Honors will be
pleased to grant us the sd Goods.
And your Petrs will ever pray.

The petitioners have liberty granted them by this board to
view the goods and if theirs upon due proofe thereof to be
made upon oath in Court, the same to be delivered unto them.

At the motion and request of the honble Coll Wm Digges
Ordered that Mandamus issue forth of the Chancery to
Enquire into the Land of Wm Perfitt late of Charles County
dec'd.

Taken again into consideration the Lord Effinghams Lettr
of the 12th of May last, and resolved upon the answer there-
unto as foll (viz.)

Councills Letter to Ld Effingham.

St Maries City in Maryland
June 9. 1685:
Sr
Your Letter of the 12th of May last wee have received and
considered, and for answer say that wee are not unsensible of
his Lsps Charter granted by the King, and the large priviledges
therein conteined, must therefore beg your Exencys pardon,
for not delivering to you Coll Talbott according to your
demands, well knowing none of the plantations (especially that
of Virginia) to have any superintendency over this Province;
