Justice, upon the Evidence which shall appeare against him
at his tryall, which doubt not your Exncy: will cause to be
produced.
The advice you are pleased to give of the apprehending
some of the Bay Pirates (I question not) will be gratefull news
& most thankfully reed: by all the rest of his Lsps Deputies
as well as my self. And I should have used all endeavours
to have furnished you with sufficient Evidence against them
of Severall Robberies, wrongs, & spoiles committed in this
Governmt were it possible to have compass'd it in time con-
venient for their tryall at your Genll Court.
That together with the Confirmation or renewmt of our
former league with the Northern Indians made as well for
Virginia & Maryland as the Indians of both (now upon an
Interview had with some of their greate men, according to
their Articles with us) at the head of the Bay Coppy of wch
had the weather pmitted, I expected ere now to have reed:
and sent your Exncy:) has protracted our more timely advice
of Coll Talbotts surrender, and has been the occasion of
keepeing your Express soe long, desireing fully to have sat-
isfied your Exncy in all pticulars; and to have Evidenced, that
as this Governmt never hath, soe never will be backward in
promoteing his Majties and the Lord Baltemores Interest with
all vigour and Zeale Imaginable, and likewise in maintaineing

an Amicable and faire correspondency betweene both Goy-

ernmts upon all occasions, which is the hearty fervent desire,
and constant endeavour of
Yr Exncys most humble Servts
Wm Digges

Ordered that a Lett' be writt from this board to the Lord
Effingham signifieing the peruseall of his two Lettrs foregoeing
(which (it was thought) Coll Digges had fully answered him-
self — and to advise his Lsp that if he please to send over the
Evidence against Coll Talbott to our next Provinciall Court,
this Governmt would then be ready to proceed to his tryall,
otherwise' they must protract the same till the Court foll, which
will fall out in Septemb: next agt wch time they doubt not but

hie LSP will use his Authority to have the Evidences produced

against the sd Talbott upon his tryall in ordr to be proceeded
agt according to Law and Justice.
Accordingly was writt & sent his Lsp as foll (viz:) together
with Coppy of the Articles last made with the Indians
