them, I have therefore ordered them to be secured, and also
the goods till the next Genll Court which beginns the 15th of
this instant, and thought fitt to lett you know of this, that if
any of the Inhabitants of the Province of Maryland have been
rob'd or lost any goods, or have any Servants runn away, if
they will come to James Towne at that time their goods or
Servants shall upon due proofe be restored them, and the

May it please yor Exncy:
Your Lettr of the 20th instant to Coll Darnall and myself
with one inclosed to me in pticular came to my hands on Sat-
urday last; both I have perused, and not having (at prsent)
oportunity to communicate the same either to the Councill or
Coll Darnall (he being now farr from home) have considered
well the contents, and have adventured to returne your Exncy
my particular sentiments for answer, upon the whole matter,
as I hold my self obleiged without any longer deteineing your
Express, which please thus to accept off. As for the appre-
hending Coll Talbott, all care therein Imaginable has been
used by this Governmt by issueing out Proclamation under the
Seale of this Province to every respective County within the
same (as I informed your Exncy, when I had the honor of
seeing you last at Coll Spencers) and takeing such other
measures and methods as were thought most proper and con-
ducible thereto, although all prooved uneffectuall; he upon all
occasions, and designes of that nature flyeing and betakeing
himself for refuge to the remotest parts of the woods and
desarts of this Province, untill either remorse of Conscience, or
apprehension of our extraordinary diligently care and search
after him (and consequently a seemeing impossibility for him
longer to Escape the hands of Justice) prompted him to a sur-
render of himself into custody thereby anticipateing this Gov-
ernmt from demonstrateing their zeale for his Majtiesand the
Lord Baltemores Service; wherein as well for all the Gentle-
men concerned in pfenerail, as for my Self in pticular I prsume to

affirme, we neither have nor will be to our power and Capa-
citys any waies deficient, but shall approove ourselves most
exact in the prosecution of Coll Talbott according to Law and
