The humble Petition of Robert Sidebottom In most humble

manner sheweth
That your Petr out of a deepe sense and hearty sorrow for
his past ill lead life, as well as for the crime, whereof he hath
in pticular been convicted before your Honors, and for which
sentence of death hath most justly been pronounced against
him, calling to mind that he must also appeare before another
Tribunall, where he must render a strict acco' of all his actions
in this life, and considering how altogether unprovided he is
for that end, is compelled to flye to your Honors and prostrate
himself at your ffeete for mercy, an attribute as delectable to
the Judge of all as Justice its self, and which his Lsp (whom
you represent) hath taken noe small pleasure to putt in
practice.)
Your Petr most humbly Implores your Honors to take into
your most serious consideration and compassion his most
miserable, and deploreable condition, without your Honors

mercy extended towards him, thereby giveing your Petr time
and oportunity to repent and provide himself for the greate
acco' he is to make, ffaithfully to serve his Prince and to pray
for your Honors which shall unfeignedly be the use your Petr
will make of that life your Honors of your greate mercy shall
think fitt to restore him unto.

Ordered that his Lsps gracious pardon be drawne for the
petitioner, in ordr to pass the scale.

bott wch accordingly issued as foll, (viz)

Maryld ss: A Proclamation
Whereas It is reported, and we have been credibly informed
that Coll George Talbott haveing committed a most horrid
murdr on the body of Christopher Rousby Esqr late of this
Province, and his Majties Collector within the same, is now pri-
vately lodged, and hath sheltred himself in some part of this
Province. To the end therefore that soe notorious a murderer
may not wholly Escape the hands of Justice, but may be duely
