A Lettr from Capt Thomas Allen of the 11th of ffebry 1684
to the honble Coll Wm Digges together with Coppy of sd
Digges answer returned thereunto deld to the Clk of the
Councill to be recorded (viz:)

Honrd Sr
I have seized on a shipp called the Providence of Deale that
hath made a breach of some of the Kings Lawes and trans-
gressed in your Province, for which am desirous to bring her
to tryall in Maryland, If you please (agreeable to my Com-
mission) to call a Court in the Kings name; I have writt to
Mr Blackiston (whose business it is to prosecute in his Majtties
behalfe, I Desire your speedy answer hereunto that I may
know what is to be done in this affaire by

Sr Yours of the 11th instant I have reed: and take notice of
the propositions therein, as for your Commission I neither
know nor question, but am sensible of the tenor of my owne
agreeable to which I doe assure you, that if you think fitt to
bring to tryall here (as I think you ought) the Providence of
Deale or any other Shipp or vessell seized in this Province
you may have a Court speedily appointed you, according to
the Constitution of this Province, and all faire proceedings
therein wth especiall respect and regard had to his Majties just
Interest and Service, which this Governmt has been ever ready
to promote and will alwaies be the endeavour of
