Ordered to be Entred the following Deposition of John
Reynolds taken before the honble Coll Henry Darnall (viz)

John Reynolds of St Maries County in the Province of
Maryland aged three and thirty yeares or thereabouts sworne
and examined saith, that on ffriday the last day of October last
past he being on board the Kings Ketch in Pottuxen River
Capt Thomas Allen Commandr he there saw Coll George Tal-
bott aboard, who was desirous and offered to goe away in his
boate, but was prevented by some of the Company in the
Cabbin, who stayed him and would not lett him goe, And
further he saith not

A Lettr of the 30th of December 1684: lately reed: from the
Lord Effingham, delivered to the Clk of the Councill and
ordred to be Entred upon Record in Councill Booke viz.

Poropotanck the 30th Decemb: 1684.
Gentl:

I reed: yours of the 3d instant, wherein I find that you lay
greate accusations to Capt Allens charge; that he should
endeavour to divert the Inhabitants of your Province from
their due obedience to the Lord Baltemore their Lawfull
Propry as likewise that he should threaten many of the
Inhabitants

I am apt to beleive as to the former, you may be misin-
formed, w'soever you are to the latter, judgeing that he that
hath soe many yeares faithfully discharged his duty to his
King, knows that wch belongs to Superiors I have acquainted
him with what you have insisted on, and have ordered him to
give all due respect to your Governmt in the circumstance he
is in. As to what you intimate concerning seizeing of shipps
not qualified according to act of Parliament; what he seizeth
by vertue of those Acts undoubtedly belongs to his Majtie I
