And ordred that the Clerk of the Councill draw the sd
Commission accordingly (viz:)

Charles absolute Lord and Propry of the Province of Mary-
land and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &ca To Richard
Beard of Anne Arrundell County gentl greeteing. Out of the
Especiall trust and confidence we have in your truth fidelity
and integrity as also in your art skill and knowledge in the
art of Surveying; We have constituted ordeined and
appointed, And by these presents Wee doe constitute ordein
and appoint you the said Richard Beard to be Depty Surveyr
of the County aforesaid in its utmost latitude and extent
Giveing and granting unto you hereby full power and
Authority to survey and resurvey lands within the said County
according to such warrts as you shall receive, and in all thnges
to act doe and pforme as to the place and Office of Deputy
Surveyr belongeth, or as any Depty Surveyor may or of right
ought to doe, and to receive and take all such profitts ffees
and perquisites as shall be legally due for the same according
to Act of Assembly in that case made and Provided.
Provided you shall not at any time make any Survey or
resurvey contrary to the conditions of plantation of this our
Province by laying out the long lines on the water (unless
upon resurveys, by your warrant particularly & especially
commanded soe to doe, by goeing according to the antient
meetes and bounds) or runn within any reserve made for his
Lsp or otherwise act against the Tenor of the sd Conditions but
shall duely truly and punctually observe the same soe farr
forth as in you lyes, and is required of you; neither presume
to make any Surveys without the bounds and limitts hereby
assigned you; ffor the profitts and perquisites whereof you are
to be, and shall from time to time be accomptable to such
person or persons as Wee or our Lievetenant Gen" or his
Deputies shall think fitt to appoint, upon such conditions and
tearmes as you have already had granted unto you the sd
place, or that the said place and Office of Deputy Surveyr
hath been last enjoyed & possessed by. To have and to hold
the said place & Office of Deputy Surveyo' for Anne Arrun-
dell County aforesd to you the said Richard Beard for and
dureing our pleasure or untill wee or our Lievetenant Gen" or

his Deputies shall signifie our his or their mind to the Con-
trary. Witness our trusty and well beloved the Deputies of
our deare Sonn Benedict Leonard Calvert Esqr our Lieve-
tenant Genll of our sd Province of Maryland, and Given under
the lesser Seale of our said Province of Maryland the first day
of Decemb: in the Tenth yeare of our Dominion &c. Annoq
Dmi. 1684:
