him, and after a very short time the said Mr Tovey dyed, and
it was discoursed by those then prsent whither he might not
have a will: as to the sight of any goods demanded by Major
Ringold he knows nothing, as to the keys they were delivered
by the said Anne Tovey to Josias Lanham, and the said Josias
and the said Anne went into the Store and other places to
search for a will, and it was agreed by the partyes present that
this Deponent should goe to the said Josias and Anne to
search for a will; and after some time this Deponent standing
at the Store doore, the said Anne (being in the Store) threw
open the doore, and said she did not care if a hundred per-
sons came to see what was there, upon which this Deponent
went into the said Store with Majr Ringold; As to the breake-
ing open any chests it was with the consent of the said Anne,
whither any body did ask her consent he is not certain, but to
the best of his knowledge it was asked: This Deponent saith
that he did heare the said Anne (severall times since her hus-
bands decease) wish that she had lett Majr Ringold administer
upon her deceased husbands Estate but that she was advised
to the contrary, but by whom this Deponent never heard her
name, as to Majr Ringold saying as he was a Justice of peace,
and his Son n in Law a Constable, that he would give a war-
rant to search, This Deponent saith there was some such dis-
course, and it was demanded by Majr Ringold of William
Harris whither he might not answer it. But said Deponent
verily beleives there was noe ill intent in any One then prsent
but onely for the good of Mr Toveys Children in England,
and the said Deponent verily beleives that Major Ringold has
been very much abused concerning what was then done, in
what has been since reported of him in said Letter sent by
Mrs Tovey, as to any thing done at the house of Mr Tovey the
14th of November, This Deponent knows nothing, and further
saith not
