Eliza Bun ten's Depos:
Elizabeth Bunten aged 14 yeares Examined at the request
of her mother Mrs Anne Joce Saith
As to Majr Ringolds demanding of her mother Mrs Tovey
a sight of all the goods in the house, she saith she never did
heare any such words spoken by Majr Ringold; but the day on
which Mr Tovey dyed, she did see Josias Lanham come to
her mother, and said he would have her search for a will and
her mother went into the Store with Josias Lanham Major
Ringold, and Hanse Hanson, where was some Chests broken
open, my mother sent me for some keys, but they could not be
found As to Major Ringolds saying unto her mother, if she
would lett him administer she should have a Chamber
furnished, and he would go hand in hand unto my Lord to

confirme it; she saith that she did heare Major Ringold speake
the said words unto her mother, as to the demanding any
papers by Major Ringold on the 14th of November last, saith
that Major Ringold came to her mother and demanded a
Mortgage which he said did belong to him, and said he would
have it, and my mother did take out severall bundles of
papers, and the Mortgage was found, and Majr Ringold had it,
My mother desired a coppy of it, he told her there was noe
occasion to give her a coppy, and further saith not.

Edwd Swettnam's Depos.
Edward Swettnam aged about 34 yeares being duely
Sworne and Examined at the request of Majr James Ringold
Saith
That he was at the house of Mr Samuel Tovey the day on
which he dyed with severall other persons, and after his death
wee were discourseing whither Mr Tovey might not have a
will, and it was the opinion of those prsent that Major Ringold
should enquire of Mrs Tovey whither she knew of any will, but
for any threatning by said Ringold to Mrs Tovey this Depo-
nent neither heard nor saw any; but discourse of a Constable,
but by whom he remembers not nor to what intent, neither of
demanding any keys by the said Ringold of the said Anne
Tovey; But it was reported by the company then prsent, there
was some chests broken open in a roome called the Store, but
beleives Mrs Tovey was willing to have it done, and after one
Chest opened, then she said she did not care if all the
Countrey saw what was there, ffor any incivility by words or
any other way offered by the said Ringold to the said Anne
he saw nor heard any, but the said Major Ringold was very
