is advised by the board) to remoove his said Deputy and
employ some more capable person to Officiate under him, and
that himself as often as possibly may be will be prsent attend-
ing in Court to see good order there kept for the future
Which was accepted off by this board in answer to the
charge & the said Shff thereupon dismissed


pay ordred to the Souldiers at Xtina Bridge.

At the motion of the honble Coll George Talbott for pay to
be allowed the Souldiers placed at the ffort at Christina Bridge
to keepe guard there by his Lspps ordr
Ordered that his Lspps Treasurer make them Satisfaction out
of his Lspps Revenues this prsent yeare, and that due care be
taken to reimburse his Lspp out of the next publick leavy

Ordered to be read a paper produced by the honble Coll
William Stevens from the Commission" of Sommersett County
in the Act for advancemt of Trade nominated & appointed
(viz)

Somrsett County Comrs for Townes Report.

At Snow hill neere the head of Pocomoke The 20th of
August 1684: mett these Comrs following (viz:) Coll William
Stevens, Capt John Osbourne, Mr John Williams, Mr Charles
Ratcliffe, Mr Thomas Purnall, Mr William Walton, together
with a considerable number of the most ablest of the Inhabi-

tants of the Sea Side, and the places adjacent; The Comrs at
the earnest request of the Inhabitants did take a view of the
Conveniency of a pcell of Land called Snow Hill for trade ;
After they had satisfied themselves of the conveniency of this,
The said Commissionrs & Inhitants aforesaid went to a pcell
of Land called Barrows Land, upon which Henry Morgan now
lives, and is mentioned in the Act for advancemt of trade, and
named for a port and place of Trade, The Surveyof then
prsented to the said Comrs a plott of One hundred acres of
Land, which he saith was drawne according to the direction of
the former Comissionrs there mett, and these Comissionrs now
mett know nothing to the Contrary; at which time the Inhabi-
tants aforesaid did earnestly request the said Comrs to look
into the conveniency and Inconveniency of the sd place: upon
Examination finding severall Inconveniencyes which phaps
formerly might not be scene, compareing that place with that
place at Snow hill for a port or place of trade formerly over-
lookt; The said Comissionrs considering there was never a
