Henry Higges app: & accusation.

Command was given to the Sheriff of St Maries County to
have before this board the Body of Henry Higges his prisoner
as yesterday he was required
He is accordingly brought, and charged with severall gross
misdemeanors and affronts given to the Commissionrs of Cecil
County Court in Court seateing, presumeing to come into
Court and seate himself on the bench with them (his hatt on)
and calling for drink sweareing he was come to drink with
them, & shewing much more such contemptuous behaviour
towards them; according to the Information of Mr Edward
Inglish
who being called & Sworne Saith
That the second Tuesday in September at the County Court
of Cecill County whereof himself is a member and was then
present One Wheeler being accused for killing and destroying
the neighbours horses, a greate disturbance arose, and he the
said Wheeler was bound to the peace, One Swithen Wells
stood up and begann to vindicate his cause in such manner as
the Court was forced to committ him; This Henry Higges
was also very insolent and after two or three times of rebuke
from the Court came peremptorily and seates himself on the
bench with the Justices (his hatt on) and swore God damn
them, he was come to drink a bowle of punch with them &
such like discourse
Command given to the Sheriff of St Maries County to take
again into his custody the said Henry Higges, and him safely

keepe untill he shall Enter into bond with one good sufficient
security, in the summe of thirty pounds sterl himself, and
ffifteene pounds for his security, for his good behaviour and
appearance before this board the first day of the next Prov"
Court

Capt William Peirce Shff of Cecil County makes his
appeareance and is charged with some misfeasance of his
Depty in his Office not executeing the Commands of the
Comrs of the County Court when they required him to take
into his custody & secure the body of Swithen Wells and
others disturbers of his Lsps peace, by which meanes severall
affronts and Indignities were throwne upon the said Comrs
To which he pleads ignorance, that he was at that time sick
and knew nothing of it, but had he himself been able to attend
the Court those Insolencies should not have happened, and
for further satisfaction saith that he is resolved (& accordingly
