By the Councill.
Maryland ss:
Whereas Complaint hath this day been made, and this board
hath been credibly informed that Swithen Wells of Cecil
County hath publickly and at severall times offered severall
grand affronts and indignities to the Commission^rs of the said
County Court in Court sitting, to the disturbance of the said
County Court while executing the trust reposed in them in the
due Administration of Justice and to the greate contempt of
his L^sps Hono^r and dignity there (as in all other his L^sps Courts
of Justice) represented
Ordered therefore that the sheriff of the said County of
Cecil forthwith upon sight hereof apprehend and take into his
custody the body of the said Swithen Wells, & him Safely

keepe, soe that he have him before his L^spps Councill at the
City of S^t Maries the first day of the next Prov" Court, then
and there to answer unto the premisses and what else shall be
alledged ag^t him in that behalf.
Ordered also that M^r Edward Inglish and M^r Edward Jones
be summoned psonally to appeare at the time and place afore-
said to testifye the truth of their knowledge on this behalf
against the said Swithin Wells whereof lett there be noe failure,
dated at the Councill Chamber at the City of S^t Maries the
third Day of October in the nineth yeare of the Dominion of
the R^t hon^ble Charles &c^a Annoq Dmi: 1684:

Command was then also given to the Sheriff of S^t Maries
County to apprehend and take into his custody the body of
Henry Higges (if he be within his bailywick) soe as to have
him before this board to morrow to answer unto the complaint
of the said Inglish and what else shall be alledged against him

Cec. County Shff. to attend the Councill board.

Ordered also that notice be given by the Clk of the Councill
to the sheriff of Cecil County to attend this board to morrow
to answer his neglect in the complaint of M^r Inglish sett forth
