therefore they doe recommend to you Mr Richard Beard of
the same County (a person in their opinion Intelligent &
capable to serve your Honor therein) to succeed the said Yate
in that Office, and desire your Honor to take upon you the
trouble of Examination, and if he shall be approoved off in
that capacity that you will please to direct your Comission to
him for that purpose. It is the ordr & Command of his Lsps

These

Came Joshua Doyne gentl high Sheriff of St Maries County
and made returne of a precept to him directed the 24th instant
for the apprehending Captn ffendall, wch was Endorsed on the
back of the sd precept in these words (viz:)

precept agt ffendall ret.

June 26th 1684:
By vertue of the within warrant I went on board the Mar-
garett of London Capt Edward Watkins Command' and the
same did diligently search, & looke for the body of Josias
ffendall but the said body could not find
