therefore they doe recommend to you M^r Richard Beard of
the same County (a person in their opinion Intelligent &
capable to serve your Hono^r therein) to succeed the said Yate
in that Office, and desire your Hono^r to take upon you the
trouble of Examination, and if he shall be approoved off in
that capacity that you will please to direct your Comission to

These

Came Joshua Doyne gentl high Sheriff of S^t Maries County
and made returne of a precept to him directed the 24^th instant
for the apprehending Captⁿ ffendall, w^ch was Endorsed on the
back of the s^d precept in these words (viz:)

precept ag^t ffendall ret.

June 26^th 1684:
By vertue of the within warrant I went on board the Mar-
garett of London Cap^t Edward Watkins Command' and the
same did diligently search, & looke for the body of Josias
ffendall but the said body could not find
