to any other port or place whatsoever (soe much onely
excepted as shall be absolutely necessary for the subsistance
or maintenance of the Master Seamen and passengers of such
Shipp or Vessell to Enable them to pforme their Voyage; at
the discretion of the Officer or Officers appointed in the Sev-
erall Ports of this Province to Enter and cleare such Ships or
Vessells as aforesaid.) Hereby also willing and requireing all
Mrchants and Masters of Ships and Vessells, and other per-
sons whatsoever comeing into tradeing Inhabiting or reside-
ing within this Province to take due cognizance of this our
prohibition, soe as not to Shipp, take, receive, or suffer to be
Shipped taken received or putt on board any his or their Ship
or Vessell any the aforenamed graines of wheate or Indian
Corne, (except as before excepted) as he or they will answer
the contrary at their perill. And Wee doe likewise straightly
charge and Command all and singular his Lsps Officers civill
and Military wthin this Province, and others the good people
thereof diligently to Examine and enquire in and about their
severall & respective precincts and places of abode, that all
due observance and obe'dience be given hereunto, and that all
or any breach thereof may be duely informed off to the end
that all or any the Offender or Offendrs therein may be seveerely
proceeded against as shall be thought fitt according to Law.
Wee willing also and requireing all and singular the Sheriffes
of this Province forthwith upon receipt hereof to make publick
Proclamation hereof in the most publick and convenient places
within their severall and respective Counties, for the Informa-

tion of all and singular the Inhabitants of this Province, and
others therein concerned, to the end that none offending
against the same may have the least ground or colour to plead
ignorance.
Given at the City of St Maries under the greate Seale of
this Province of Maryland the Seaventh day of August in the
nineth yeare of the Dominion of the Rt honble Charles &ca
Annoq Dmi: 1684:
