Office belonging by both your names to be affixed by either of
you present and attending in your Office for the time being;
such warrants, and speciall warrants aforesaid being legally
obteined upon conditions of plantation, or by ordr of Councill
in manner aforesaid: And also upon due Examination of all
Common Ordinary, or speciall and extraordinary Pattents
with the originall and Records of the Certificates, you and
either of you the said Major Nicholas Sewall and John Darnall
Esqr attending may and have hereby liberty given you to
attest such your Examination by both your names on the back
of the said Pattents; to be attested also in the first place by
the Surveyor Gen" or Examiner Gen" of this Province as
agreeing with and being according to a just Survey thereof
made.
21: Vpon the Expiration or other determination of any
Lease or other Title to Land of and within any of our Mannors
within this Province, Wee doe Authorise and Impower, our sd
trusty and well beloved Councellors herein before named to
renew the same to the Tenants or Inhabitants thereof for and
dureing the Space and Tearme of ffive yeares longer, upon
such Tearmes and conditions as the same was formerly
granted; with a ffine to be paid therefore.
22: And fforasmuch as all or most of the severall Conces-
sions and Condescensions in the severall Articles herein
before conteined are matters of Grace and favour; Wee will
and require that for the Encouragemt of the Clerk of our
Councill for the time being, and to Enable him to continue his
fidelity Industry, and Diligence in his constant attendance and
employmt in the said Office, Upon Every grant of Land
Escheated unto us upon any the reasons aforesaid; The party
obteining the same Doe (besides his ordinary ffees already
settled upon him by us and our Councill for petitions &ca the
Attrney Genlls ffees and other Officers ffees) pay and secure to
be paid unto our sd Clark the just Quantity of ffour hundred

pounds of Tobacco. And also upon the grant of any Surplus-
age to any person or persons Suitors for the same, in manner
aforesaid obteined the summe of Tenn pounds of Tobacco in
every hundred pounds of Tobacco the Value bargained for,
and agreed to be paid for the same, shall by the party obtein-
ing be paid unto our said Clerk over and above the value
bargained for and agreed on as aforesaid.
23: And for any other matter or thing which of our grace
and favour we have usually granted and condescended unto
and not herein before expressly mentioned and conteined.
Wee will and doe hereby give unto our said Councellors full
power and Authority to give grant and consent unto, in such
manner and forme, as we have heretofore done by and with the
