the Lord Propry of this Province, and members of his said
Lsps Upper house of Assembly within the same; haveing (at
the request and by pmission of his said Lsp:) had inspection
into, and examination of the Generall Booke of Entries for
Shipping wth in this Province; Doe find and upon our Honrs
Say and Declare that in the yeare of our Lord God One
thousand Six hundred Seaventy and Six his Lsp did demand
take and receive the summe of Two shillings sterling p hhd
and noe more, for every hhd of Tobacco of the growth and
production of this Province, then (according to the Accompts
and reports made to his Lsps Officers thereunto appointed)
Shipped and exported out of this Province, which said summe
or Imposition of Two shillings p hhd his Lsp claimed demanded
and received by vertue of an Act of Assembly of this Pro-
vince made by and with the Advice and consent of the ffree-
men of this Province Assembled in the yeare of our Lord One
thousand Six hundred Seaventy and ffour, Intituled [an Act
of Gratitude to his Excellency Charles Calvert Esqr Capt
Generall of Maryld] And that his said Lsp did not then nor
at any time thereafter claime, ask, demand take, or receive,
any Duty, tax or Imposition laid upon any the growth or pro-
duction of this Province, for, by reason, or by vertue of an
Act of Assembly of the said Province made as aforesd in the
yeare of our Lord One thousand Six hundred Seaventy and
one Intituled [An Act for the raiseing and provideing a Sup-
port for his Lsp: the Lord Propry or this Province dureing his
naturall life, and likewise a Supply towards the Defraying the
publick charges of Governmt] Neither (to our knowled
hath any other Duty Tax or Imposition upon any the grc
or production aforesaid been at any time since paid by any
person or psons whatsoever Inhabitants, or others tradeing
comeing into or resideing within this Province for or by reason
of the aforesaid Act Intituled [An Act for the raiseing and
provideing a Support for his Lsp the Lord Propry of this Pro-
vince &ca] or of any other Act of Assembly of this Province,
or upon any other Accompt whatsoever, other then by vertue
of the ffirst mentioned Act of Assembly Intituled [An Act of
Gratitude to his Excellency Charles Calvert Esqr Captn Gen-
erall of Maryland]
To the Truth whereof And for the better Information &
Satisfaction of all persons whatsoever, Wee have hereunto sett
our hands, and have humbly prayed his Lsp: and have pre-
vailed to have the greate Seale of this Province hereunto to be
affixed this Six and Twentyeth Day of Aprill in the Nineth
