affaires of this our Province, Writts shall issue out of our
Chancery under the greate Seale of our said Province,
Impowering the Sheriff of every County then erected, and

the Mayor Alderman and Common Councill or other Officer
thereto Impowered in every City, Burrough or other Towne
corporate that shall have Charter to send Citizens or Bur-
gesses to our future Assembly, requireing them respectively
to Elect two Delegates or Deputyes and noe more for Every
County City Burrough or Towne Corporate then in being the
forme of which Writt followeth in these words (viz.) [Charles
Absolute Lord and Prop^ry of the Provinces of Maryland and
Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore &c. To the Sheriff of A
Greeteing. These are to Authorize and Require you immedi-
ately upon Receipt hereof to call together four or more of the
Commission^rs of your County with the Clark who are hereby
required to sitt as a Court, and dureing their sitting by vertue
of your Office to make or cause to be made publick Procla-
mation thereby giveing notice to all the ffreemen of your said
County who have within your said County a ffreehold of ffifty
Acres of Land or a visible personall Estate of ffourty pounds
sterling at the least requireing them to appeare at the next
County Court to be holden for your County at a certain day
within a reasonable time after such Proclamation made for the
Electing and chooseing of Delegates and Deputyes to serve
for your County in a generall Assembly to be holden at N:
the N: Day of N. at which time of Election aforesaid the ffree-
men soe required to appeare or the Majo^r part of them who
shall then appeare shall and may and are hereby authorised
and required to elect and choose two severall and Sufficient
ffreemen of your County, each of them haveing a ffreehold of
ffifty acres of land or a visible personall Estate of ffourty
pounds sterling at the least within your County, and you shall
give Authority to each of them severally and respectively by
two severall and respective Indentures under their hands and
Scales to be Delegates and Deputies for your County, and to
appeare and serve as Delegates and Deputies for your
County at the said next generall Assembly to doe and Con-
sent to those things which then by the favour of God shall
there happen to be ordeined by us by the advice and Consent
of the greate Councill of this our Province concerning such
occasions and affaires as shall relate to the Governm^t State
and Defence of this Province, but Wee will not in any case
that you or any other Sheriff in our said Province be Elected,

which said Indentures shall be betweene you the Sheriff of the
One part and the said ffreemen Electing on the other part
and shall beare date the same Day upon which the said Elec-
tion shall be made, and shall mention the time and place of
such Election, and the persons soe Elected, and shall be
