The Provinciall Court wch was to sitt the 26th day of this
instant September adjourned to the Tenth day of October
foll: and writts of Adjournmt accordingly issued out of the
Chancery

Liber R.

At a Councill held at the City of St Maries the Tenth day of
October Anno Dmi. 1682:

The Rt honble the Lord Propry
The honble J Philip Calvert Esqr Chancelor
Coll Wm Stevens
Present

James Rumsey of Calvert County haveing in a most gross
manner abused Mr Sanders the minister was Commanded by
his Ldspp to make his appeareance at this board this day wch
accordingly he did and Coll Jowles high sheriff of the sd
County also who being duely sworne and examined saith
That the said Rumsey did in his heareing call Mr Sanders
base pittifull fellow, and otherwise most grossly abuse him in
a most scurrilous manner but as to every pticular he cannot
now call to mind.

The said Rumsey is committed to the Custody of the Sheriff
of St Maries there to remaine untill such tyme as he shall give
good security for his good behaviour and appearance at the
Provinciall Court.

Daniel Tatem a privateer that had Committed some Rob-
beries and other insolencies in Virginia being apprehended in
this Province, Command was given to the Sheriff of St Maries
County to take him into safe custody and convey him under
safe guard to the said Collony according to the foll precept
viz

By the Lord Propry & Councill
Maryld ss:

You are hereby willed and required immediately upon sight
hereof to take unto your Charge and Custody the body of
Daniel Tatem, and him safely and securely guarded to con-
vey over into the Collony of Virginia & deliver to Mr Thomas
Mathews there, ffor the better effecting whereof you are
hereby Authorised and Impowered in his Ldspps name to press
a Shallop or other boate and hands sufficient for that purpose
with provisions necessary and convenient, And upon Delivery
of your Prisoner you are to Demand a sufficient Receipt or
discharge for your Justification. Dated at St Maries the tenth
