provost Martiall Generall shall by his Owne authority appre-
hend him & the offenders shall suffer death or such other
punishment as the Generall Court Marshall shall thinke fitt.

If any ffray shall happen within the Camp or place of
46o Garrison in any of the Souldiers Lodgings or where they
meete it shall be enquired into by the Officers of the Regi-
ment, and the Beginners or pursuers thereof punished accord-
ing to the quality of the Offence.
If any inferior Officer either of horse or ffoot, be
470 wronged by his Officer he may complaine to his Collonel,
or other Superior Officer of the Regiment, who is to redresse
the same upon due proof of the wrong done him; but if he
faile therein, the party greived is to apply himselfe to the
Generall Officer for redresse, and if the accusation be false,
the Complainant is to be punished at the discretion of a Court
Martiall.
If any Collonel or Captaine shall force or take any
48o thing away from any private Souldier that Collonel or
Captaine shall be punished according to the quality of the
Offence by the judgment of the Generall Court Martiall But
if a Souldier shall be wronged, and shall not appeale to the
Court or his Superior Comanders but take his Owne satisfac-
tion for it, he shall be punished by the judgment of a Court
Martiall.
If any Souldier dye, no other shall take or Spoile his
goods upon paine of restoreing double the value to him
to whom they belong and of such further punishments as a
Court Marshall shall thinke fitt, But the Captaine of the
Compa of which such a Souldier was, shall take the said goods
into his custody and dispose of them for paying his Quarters
(if any thing therefore be found due) and to keepe the over-
plus (if any be) for the use of those to whom they belong, and
who shall claime the same within three months after his
death, And if any Captaine or Officer dye the Cheife
Comander shall take care of preserveing his estate in like
manner.
Noe provost martiall shall refuse to receive or keepe a
500 prisoner sent to his Charge by authority, or shall dismisse
him without order upon paine of such punishment as a Court
Martiall shall thinke fitt. And if the Offence for which his
prisoner was apprehended deserved death, the provost mar-
tiall faileing to receive and keepe him as aforesd shall be liable
to the same death.
If any person be committed by the provost martialls
510 owne authority without other Comand, he shall acquaint
the Generall or other Cheife Comander with the cause thereof
within foure and twenty houres and the provost Martiall shall
