40 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1671-1675.
Lib. R. R. indebted unto the Honble Charles Calvert Esqr in the full and
just summe or quantity of fifty thousand pounds of good sound
merchantable tobacco in casque to conteine the same to be
paid to the said Charles Calvert or to his certaine Attorny his
heirs or assignes To the which payment well and truly to be
made I bind my selfe my heirs executors and administrators
in the whole firmly by these presents sealed with my Seale
and dated this sixth day of June in the two and fortith yeare
of the Dominion of Cecilius &c Annoq Dmi 1674.

The Condition of this present Obligation is such That
whereas the said John Quigley hath undertaken to build a
State house and prison at the Citty of St Maries upon the
Land within the liberties of the said Citty according to the
intent meaning & purport of an Act of Assembly made at a
Sessions of Assembly held at the said Citty of St Maries upon
the ninetenth day of May last past and there continued till
the sixth day of June instant intituled An Act for the building
a prison and State house at St Maries If therefore the said
John Quigley shall well and truly build and finish the said
Statehouse and prison according to the severall demensions
& proportions in the said Act mentioned within the time the

p. 31 said Act limitted & appointed and shall further doe and per-
forme all and every the matters and things clauses articles
and directions in the said Act conteined which on his part are
to be done and performed according to the true intent and
meaning of the said Act without fraud or covin That then this
present Obligation to be void and of none effect or else to
stand in full force and virtue

[Escheated Lands.]

Whereas I am given to understand that severall Plantations
in Talbott County in Maryland are legally escheated to me I
doe hereby authorize and require you to make Sale of as
many of the said Plantations as you can and to passe pattents
in my name and under my great seale of my Province of
Maryland of the said lands to such as shall purchase them
reserveing the usuall Rents now paid to me and my heirs for
lands held in my Province of Maryland and dispose of what
they shall be sold for to such uses as I have directed you in
my letter dated the 26 day of this present November 1666
