said Samuel Bourne duly to administer, and you the said
Roger Brooke haveing recd: and taken the said Oath Wee
doe hereby Authorise and empower you to administer the like
oath of Commissionr and Justice of the peace of our said
County to him the said Samuel Bourne, which being done
and performed) to call and cause to come before you the
other persons in the said Comission nominated and appointed
to be Commissionrs and Justices of the peace and for the tryall
of causes in our said County, and duely and truly to adminis-
ter unto them and every of them jointly or severally the said
oath of Commissioner and Justice of the peace of our said
County they also takeing the same upon the holy Evangelists,
And when you have soe done Wee doe will and command you
that you doe under your hands & Seales certifie us of your whole
proceedings herein without delay into our Court of Chancery
wheresoever it shall then be together with this writt. Wit-
ness Our Self at our City of St Maries the Eight and twentieth
Day of July in the Sixth yeare of our Dominion &c Annoq
Domini One thousand Six hundred Eighty and One.

At a Councill held at the City of S( Maries the Eighth Day
of August Anno Domini 1681 :

The Rt honble the Lord Propry

The honble William Calvert Esqr Secry Prsent

Then Delivered into the hands of the Clk of the Councill
to be entred the following Deposition of Samuel Dobson viz.

Augt 4th 1681 :
Samuel Dobson aged Sixty three yeares or thereabouts
sworne upon the holy Evangelists saith that about the begin-
ning of the last moneth Captn John Coode came to Bushwood
to the house of Gerard Slye where this Deponent then and
now hath his residence: that they then fell into discourse
about the murder at Point Looke Out then lately committed
upon Thomas Potter and others, that this Deponent then in
discourse saying that the said Potter and his Companions (as
this Deponent thought) were murdered by the Indians, the
said Cood replyed noe they were not murdered by Indians,
but were murdered by Christians, and that Coll Spencer had
cleared the Indians then questioned; And further Sayth not
Juravit die et Anno Supradictis
