398 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1678-1681 .
Lib. R. Court And therefore we command you that you diligently
intend the keepeing of the peace Laws and orders, and all
and singular other the premisses, and at certain dayes
appointed according to Act of Assembly in that case provided
and such places which you or any four or more of you as
aforesaid shall in that behalf appoint Yee make Enquiries
p. 217 upon the premisses and perform and fullfill the same in forme
aforesaid, doeing therein that which to Justice appertaineth
according to the Laws orders and reasonable Customs of our
said Province, Saveing to us the Amerciamts and other things
thereof to us belonging And therefore wee command the
Sheriff of the said County of Calvert by vertue of these
presents that at the Dayes and places aforesaid which you
or any such four or more of you as aforesaid shall make
knowne to him to give his attendance on you, and if need
require to cause to come before you or any such four or more
of you as aforesaid such and soe many good and lawfull men
of your County by whom the truth in the premisses may the
better be knowne and enquired of, And further you shall
cause to be brought before you at the said Dayes and places,
the writts precepts processes, and Indictmts to your Court
and Jurisdiction belonging, that the same may be inspected
and by a due course Determined as aforesaid. Given at our
City of St Maries under the greate Seale of our said Province
of Maryland the Eight and twentieth Day of July in the Sixth
yeare of our Dominion &c. Annoq Dmi One thousand Six
hundred Eighty and One.

Charles Absolute Lord and Propry of the Provinces of
Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To our
trusty and well beloved Captain Samll Bourne and Roger
Brooke gentl greeteing. Whereas we have by our Comis-
sions under the greate Seale of this our said Province of
Maryland beareing equall Date with this nominated consti-
tuted and appointed you the said Samuel Bourne and Roger
Brooke, and the severall other persons in the said Commis-
sions named to be commissioners and Justices of the peace
and for the tryall of causes in our County of Calvert with full
power and Authority to keepe our County Court at such
dayes and times as by the law in that case made is provided.
Now Know yee that we reposeing greate trust and confi-
dence in your fidelityes & provident circumspections have
Assigned you and by vertue of these presents doe give unto
you full power and authority (you the said Roger Brooke
haveing first taken the vsuall oath of Commissioner and Jus-
tice of the peace of our said County upon the holy Evangelist
which oath wee doe hereby Empower and authorise you the
