378 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1678—1679.
Lib. R. You are also hereby Authorised and empowered to press a
fresh horse or horses in any place where you shall have occa-
sion for your more speedy dispatch in the Execution hereof
Given as above C: Baltemore

If horses be not immediately to be had in your parts you
are forthwith to come to Mattapony where they shall be pro-
vided for you C: B.

Ordered also that Proclamations issue for Calling the
Assembly the 16th Day of August next Declareing his Lspps
Dissent to an Act made the last Sessions Entituled (An Act
Directing the Manner of Electing and Summoning Delegates
& Representatives to serve in succeeding Assemblyes) wch
Act requires the Chooseing of four Delegates for Every
County to sitt and vote in the Assembly wch is by his Lspp and
Councill deemed too burdensome for every County and that
two are sufficient, It being the Opinion of this board that the
true intent of that Act was onely to assure the ffreemen of
this Province that all the Deputyes by them Chosen should
be called to sitt and vote in the Assembly without any neces-
sity of haveing soe many as four in every County. And for
the future two Deputyes onely for every County shall be
elected.

By the Lord Propry
Maryland ss: a Proclamation
Whereas by an Act of Assembly of this Province (made at
a Generall Assembly holden at the City of St Maries the
Twentieth Day of October Anno Domini One Thousand Six
hundred Seaventy Eight (by severall prorogations prorogued

p. 185 and continued thereto from the ffifteenth Day of May Anno
Domini One Thousand six hundred Seaventy Six) Entituled
[An Act Directing the manner of Electing and summoning
Delegates and Representatives to serve in succeeding
Assemblies it was Enacted that four Deputyes and Delegates
for each respective County should be chosen and called to sitt
in every generall Assembly for the future, The Inconveniency
whereof in burdening every County with the charge of four
Delegates as aforesaid Wee haveing duely weighed and con-
sidered, and conceiveing that the true intent of the said Act
was onely to assure the ffreemen of this our Province that all
persons by them elected for their Delegates and Representa-
tives, should be called to sitt and vote in our said generall
