William Chandler, Mr Henry Adames and Mr John Stowe
(thereunto hereby fully Authorised and Empowered) that they
with such and soe many men well armed as shall be necessary
for their guard joine with the said Captn Randolph Brandt in
the Conference with the sd Indians; when they are to be putt
in mind of their league aforesaid, and be acquainted with his
Lspps Instructions and earnest desire of ratifyeing and confirme-
ing the same as at present soe by a mutuall Interview of some
of their greate men with some of this Province in the moneths
of May June or July (wch they shall appoint) in every yeare at
Zachaiah (a place now knowne unto them) That as his Lspp
and the good people of this Province are Desirous to pre-
serve and keepe inviolate the said league with them soe he
hopes they will on their parts observe and keepe all and
Singular the Articles thereof towards the Inhabitants of this
Province, his Majesties Subjects of Virginia and our Neigh-
bouring and ffriend Indians therein particularly named. And
for a Testimoniall of his Lspps true Intentions and Inclinations
thereunto he makes tender of a peice of tradeing Cloth as a
present, which he Desires they will send for to Mattapony, or
otherwise upon notice given to his Lspp: he will take care it
shall be sent to them at a place where they shall appoint in
the said County (where they now are) with assurance of a
safe conduct to and from Mattapony (if they think fitt to
come) or liberty of remaineing where they are or whither they
shall appoint to goe to receive the same, as also an allowance
of a reasonable supply of meate and Corne for their provision
dureing their stay and towards their journey back an exact
and punctuall Accot of which proceedings to be duely taken
and transmitted to his Lspp as well under the hands of the
said Coll William Chandler Mr Henry Adames and Mr John
Stone as of the said Capt" Randolph Brandt with all conve-
nient speed. Dated the nineteenth Day of June in the Sixth
yeare of the Dominion of the Rt honble Charles &ca Annoq

Then taken into consideration the late horrid Murder Com-
mitted upon five Men and a Woman English at the Lower
End of the towne the ffifteenth instant, Eight Indians (viz:)
three men three weomen and two Children being thereupon
taken in the parts where the same was Committed and now
in Custody upon Suspition of being Acto" therein Where-
upon issued the two following orders viz.

Whereas there are lately taken and in Custody Eight
Indian Prisoners suspected to have been concerned in the late
