Yours of the 13th of July last to his Lspp: hath been perused
as also the Draught of the conveyance inclosed wch is well
approoved off and now returned you to be executed in due
forme of Law. Signed p ordr of the Rt honble the

p. 176 Samuel Groome Commandr of the shipp Globe Desires the
recording of a splall lycense from his Lspp: to him granted for
tradeing with Indians viz

By the Rt honble the Lord Propry
Maryland ss :
These are to Commissionate Authorise and Empower Capt
Samuel Groome Commander of the Shipp Globe of London
or whom he shall depute for him to trade traffick and Deale
with any our Neighbouring and ffriend Indians for all manner
of skinns and ffurrs to any value or Quantity whatsoever, and
the same or whatsoever he or his Deputy aforesaid shall by
vertue hereof purchase to be to the proper vse of him the said
Samuel Groome, or otherwise by him to be disposed off as to
him shall seeme meete, He or they paying all dues according
to the act of Assembly. And for soe Doeing this shall be a
sufficient warrant. Given under our hand and Seale at Armes
this Tenth of May 1681 :
The sd lycense to be dureing pleasure
To all officers civill and Military C: Baltemore
within this Province or others
whom it may Concerne This

On the back of the foregoeing lycense was thus endorsed
viz.

p. 177 I Doe by vertue of the within lycense constitute and appoint
my trusty and well beloved ffriends, Liveing Dennard, and
John Goddin both of Sommersett County and Thomas Smith-
son of Talbot County my true & lawfull Deputyes and Attor-
neys to act for me and in my behalf accordingly as by the
within lycense I am empowered, ratifyeing and confirmeing
whoever my said Deputyes shall legally doe therein. Wit-
ness my hand & Seale the Tenth Day of May Anno Dmi
