(through the negligence of the Sheriffes of St Maries Anne
Arrundell and Baltemore Counties in not returneing their
lists of Titheables in convenient time) have been wholly Dis-
appointed, and could not now to proceed to lay the same, but
have referred the Assessing thereof to the first Day of the
next Prov" Court
They are Therefore to give notice that on Tuesday the
three and Twentieth Day of this instant November is the Day
appointed by his Lspp & his Councill to lay and assess the
publick leavy of this Province in the Councill roome in the
State house at the City of St Maries whereof all psons con-
cerned are to take cognizance that they have their Demands
Ready to present to his Lspp and Councill at the time and
place aforesaid Signed p ordr

John Tennisson according to Summons of the 25th October
last makes his appearance, Elizabeth Tennisson his wife at
the same time also appeared and exhibited her Complaint to
this board psonally against her sd husband for that she could
not live peaceably and Quietly with him, but with a great
deale of Danger and hazard to her pson, and therefore
humbly prayed the allowance of a competent maintenance
might be awarded her
Whereunto John Tennisson replied Denying the allega-
tions of his said wife and averring them to be altogether false
malitious and unreasonable that he was ready and willing to
receive her into his house and afford her a reasonable main-
tenance.

Both parties being heard and the Allegations on both sides
duely examined and enquired into, and the said John Tennis-
son openly confessing that he could never entertain that love
and respect for his said wife or neither afford her that counte-
nance in his house as is pperly due from a man to his wife,
The following ordr thereupon issued viz.

Maryld ss. Whereas at a Councill held at the State house
the second Day of November Anno One Thousand Six hun-
dred and Eighty upon the complaint of Elizabeth Tennisson
wife of John Tennisson of St. Maries County against her hus-
band the said John Tennisson to this board this Day exhibited
that she could not live peaceably & quietly with him but in
Danger and hazard of her life, and therefore craved the
allowance of a competent maintenance to be awarded her
apart from her sd husband, which complaint as also the
