August 1678: did range in the upper parts of Charles County
and other places for the Security of the Inhabitants of this
Province the full time of Tenn whole weekes for wch the Com-
mittee of the last Assembly would butt allow us halfe pay as
Troopes have been formerly allowed in this Province soe that
there remaines, due unto us 47370 pounds of tobacco wch we
have been these two yeares without much to the prejudice of
severall poore men, and much to the Discouragemt of Sundry
of those that (if occasion serve) are ready to Sacrifice their
lives for your Lspp
The prrnisses Considered we hope yor Lspp will please to
give us some hopes of our arreares this present Gen" Leavy,
and that it may be ordered with all the Conveniency possible
we having been great Sufferers for want of the same
And as in Duty bound shall Ever pray for yor Lspps health
and prosperity
