314 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland,, 1678-1679.
Lib. R. his Lspp: it is advised that the Pascattoway Indians haveing
now deserted their ffort and leaveing the Mattawoman Indians
upon the ffrontire open to the Enemy his Lspp upon the said
Kings addresses to him made may reasonably afford him
some small Matter of Supply necessary for his Defence.

His Lipp in answer to Capt Brandts Letter did returne as
foll viz

Yours of yesterdays Date by James Smallwood I recd: and
take notice of yr Complyance with my ordr Concerning the
Lands about Pascattoway wch lett be still observed. What
you write concerning the Articles of peace with those Indians
and yr endeavors to peruse them I likewise not, and the King

p. 144 of Mattawomans Inclinations to address himself to me for a
Supply of Armes and Ammunition, whereto I shall give him
answer when he comes, I thank you for your care in duely
adviseing me of all necessary Intelligence wch I Desire you
to continue upon all occasions worthy the cognizance of my
self and Councill wch otherwise you may Suspend for some
time I am Yor Lo: ffriend

Lib. R. R. Att a Councell held at St Maryes the ffourth day of July in
the ffourth yeare of the Dominion of the right Honoble Charles
Lord Baltemore &c over Maryland Annoq Domi. One thou-
sand six hundred Seaventy nine

Whereas Mr Christopher Rousby Attorney of Mr Thomas
Penroy the Attorney of Mr John Penroy hath informed his

lopp and Councell, that the Ketch called PROSPEROUS formerly

entrusted by the said John Penroy with Mr Robert Mason for

p. 168 a voyage to Barbados and now returned into this Province
lyes in danger of being spoiled by the wormes, and humbly
moved for an Order of his Lopp and Councell that the said
Vessell might be delivered unto him the said Thomas Penroy
for the use of the said John Penroy that she might be secured
from the wormes, Whereupon itt is Ordered (in the prsence
of Mr Robert Carvile Attorney of the said Robert Mason) that
he the said Robert Mason doe forthwith deliver unto the said
