Which result of his Lspp and Councill was accordingly
drawne up into an ordr and transmitted to Coll Wells for
Conveyance to Jacob Young for his Instructions, viz.

June 29th

1680 By the Lord Propry & Councill

Whereas his Lspp is credibly informed that the Sinniquo
Indians intend to march downe with their Troopes about the
moneths of July or Augt next but upon what Designe is not
knowne, And being Desirous to come to a right undrstanding
with the said Indians thereby to remoove (if possible) all
feares and Jealousies from the Inhabitants of this Province by
reason of any Inroades or Incursions that may otherwise be
made by the said Indians (in their march) upon the ffrontire
plantations. His Lspp by and with the advice and Consent of
his Councill willing to treate with the sd Indians and to renew
the Articles of peace last made with them hath Ordered.
That Jacob Young of Caecill County (undrstanding the
language spoken by the said Indians) be Authorised and
Empowered and he is hereby Authorised and Empowered
(at what time he shall be certainly informed that the said
Indians may upon their march) to lye in waite at or neere the
house of Mr Anthony Demondidier or else where in their
road and endeavor to speake with the said Indians, and lett
them know that his Lspp the Lord Propry of this Province is
very Desirous to see and speake with some of their greate

men, And in ordr thereunto hath Empowered him the said
Jacob Young to apply himself unto them to assure them of
the great Desire his Lspp hath to continue peace and Amity
with them & likewise to have some Conference with them
touching their last league and the Articles thereof thereby to
renew and Confirme the same, And to that end will give
them a meeteing in Anne Arrundell County whither and in
their returne back they shall be assured of a Safe Conduct
and civill treatement, at what time they shall appoint to come,
Wherein the said Jacob Young is to vse his utmost endeavor
And if they shall Consent thereunto He is also to accompany
them downe, and to take care that they be civilly treated in
their Journey, and to apply himself to Coll William Burges
who is also required to give speedy Intelligence thereof to
his Lspp and Councill, To the End that his Lspp and his Councill
may give them a meeteing in ordr to corroborate the former
peace and preserve a future good Correspondency with them
wch will highly conduce to the good and wellfare of the Prov-
ince. Wherefore the said Jacob Young is Desired and
required hereof not to faile but to vse his utmost endeavour
by all faire waies and meanes Imaginable to pswade them to
