them a convenient Supply of Men, Arms and Ammunition
from other parts of the said County more remote and free
from Danger, if any such be, but if the said County of its self
shall not be capable of Supplying one part with Another as
aforesaid, then the sd Coll. George Wells is to apply himself
Lib. R.
by Lettr or otherwise to Coll William Burges of Anne
Arrundell County for assistance, and of him to make Demand
of a Convenient number of men, as may suite the Occasion,
who upon notice given him p said Coll Wells hath ordr to
Supply him, And Whereas Capt John Waterton hath raised a
party of Men to march after the Indians without any ordrs
from his Lspp or his superior Officer for soe Doeing. It is
further ordred that the said Coll George Wells forthwith
cause to come before him the sd Capt John Waterton, and of
him Demand an Accot of such his rash and unadvised pro-
ceedings, and by what power & Authority he hath soe Done,
and that what answer the sd Waterton shall make to such
Demand be forthwith Signified to his Lspp: to the End that the
same may be Duely inquired into, and considered off and
that all Officers or others whatsoever within the sd County
doe for the future forbeare to make any excursions or march
out after any Indians upon any occasion wtsoever without
especiall ordr and Command from his Lspp: or other pson or
persons thereunto Authorised and appointed, upon pain and
perill of his Lspps Displeasure. And further the said Coll
George Wells is hereby ordred to give notice to the Inhabi-
tants of Caecill County (who are in a like Danger) that they
also stand upon their guard in manner and forme as is before
Specified. Ordered also that armes powdr and shott be sent
into Baltemore County to Coll George Wells by him to be
distributed amongst the Inhabitants takeing an Exact Accot
thereof how and to whom disposed, to the End that the same
may be reimbursed by each pticular pson into his Lspps Maga-
zine the next Shipping

May 26th You are hereby Authorised and Empowered to press
1680 Boate & hands to come from your County to Matta-
pony in Pottuxen River there to receive out of his Lspps Maga-
zine a Convenient Supply of Armes and Ammunition for the
Defence and Security of the Inhabitants of your said County
to be Distributed among them at your Discretion wch they
are again to make good to his Lspps Magazine the next yeare
