Upon a motion of the hono^ble Baker Brookes Esq^r Surveyo^r
Gen^rall of this Province that in the Act of Assembly for
Surveyo^rs ffees their was no provision made what any
surveyo^r should have for Resurveying any quantity of Land
whereby the Deputy Surveyo^r are left to their owne liberty
and take what they please to the greate oppression and
impoverishing of Diverse of the Inhabitants of this Province
his Excll^y and Councell taking the same into their Considera-
tion for p^rvention of the like Inconveniences for the future
Doe order that the Surveyo^r have Double ffees for Resurvey-
ing any pcell of land that shall Conteine One hundred and
forty acres or more and for any pcell of land conteining und^r
One hundred and forty acres the Surveyo^r shall Demaund and
Receive foure hundred pounds of Tobacco for the Resurvey-
ing thereof and no more, and of this all Deputy Surveyo^rs
within this Province are to take notice at their pills and the
Sheriff of Each County is to publish this ord^r at his County
Co^rt and affix a coppy thereof at the Court house Dore of
Every Respective County that so the people and Surveyo^rs of
Each County having notice hereof the inconveniences which
formerly hapned upon such Exactions may be p^rvented.

Instructions given by the Right hono^ble Cecilius
locus sigilli Lord Baltamore absolute Lord and Proprietary of

Maryland & Avalon to his Deare Sonne Charles Calvert his
Lo^pps Leivetennant of Maryland.

1. His Lo^pp doth hereby authorise his said Sonne to
Suspend from time to time any of his Lo^pps officers or Coun-
cill in Maryland of what Quality or Condicon soever they be
from the Execution and proffits of their Respective office or
offices & from being of his Lo^pps Councell theire if he finde
Cause for the same & to take into his Custody all such thinges
