the first day of October in the Two and fortieth yeare of the
Dominion of his said Lordship over this Province of Maryland
and in the yeare of our Lord God One Thowsand six hundred
Seaventy and Three.

At a Councill held at the Citty of St Maryes the Seaven-
teenth of Novemb 1673 wherein was prsent

The honoble Jesse Wharton & Esqrs
Thomas Taylour

Upon a motion of the honoble Baker Brookes Esqr Surveyor
Genrall of this Province that in the Act of Assembly for
Surveyors ffees their was no provision made what any
surveyor should have for Resurveying any quantity of Land
whereby the Deputy Surveyor are left to their owne liberty
and take what they please to the greate oppression and
impoverishing of Diverse of the Inhabitants of this Province
his Exclly and Councell taking the same into their Considera-
tion for prvention of the like Inconveniences for the future
Doe order that the Surveyor have Double ffees for Resurvey-
ing any pcell of land that shall Conteine One hundred and
forty acres or more and for any pcell of land conteining undr
One hundred and forty acres the Surveyor shall Demaund and
Receive foure hundred pounds of Tobacco for the Resurvey-
ing thereof and no more, and of this all Deputy Surveyors
within this Province are to take notice at their pills and the
Sheriff of Each County is to publish this ordr at his County
Cort and affix a coppy thereof at the Court house Dore of
Every Respective County that so the people and Surveyors of
Each County having notice hereof the inconveniences which
formerly hapned upon such Exactions may be prvented.

Instructions given by the Right honoble Cecilius
locus sigilli Lord Baltamore absolute Lord and Proprietary of

Maryland & Avalon to his Deare Sonne Charles Calvert his
Lopps Leivetennant of Maryland.

1. His Lopp doth hereby authorise his said Sonne to
Suspend from time to time any of his Lopps officers or Coun-
cill in Maryland of what Quality or Condicon soever they be
from the Execution and proffits of their Respective office or
offices & from being of his Lopps Councell theire if he finde
Cause for the same & to take into his Custody all such thinges
