280 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1678-1679.
Lib. R. ellin to be Clark or Regr of our private seecrett and continuall
Councill, as also Clk of our Upper house of Assembly within
this our Province of Maryland Wherefore you are from time
to time and at all times hereafter (when and as often as there
shall be occasion, or you shall be thereunto required) to give
your due Attendance at such place and places as we shall
think fitt to Determine and appoint for summoning together
our sd Councill to the End that due Register may be kept of
all such matters and thinges as shall be there treated and
p. 107 Concluded off. And you are likewise from time to time and
at all times hereafter (when and as often as wee shall see
occasion to conveene the Delegates and Representatives of
this our Province in a generall Assembly) to give your like
due attendance in the upper house of our said Assembly there
to officiate as Clark of the same, and to keepe true Record of
all such matters and thinges as shall then and there be Done
and acted, and in all thinges you are to act and Doe to the
utmost of your skill knowledge and endeavor as to the place
and Office of Clk of the Councill and Clk of our sd Upper
house of Assembly may or of right ought to be Done for the
due execution of your sd place and Office, according to such

Orders Instructions & Directions as you shall from time to

time receive from us or our Leivet Genll or other Chiefe Gov-
ernor or Deputy Governor for the time being. To have and
to hold the sd place and Office of Clark of our Councill and
Upper house of Assembly for and dureing pleasure. Given
undr our hand and Seale at Armes the thirtieth Day of
Decemb in the ffifth yeare of our Dominion &ca Annoq Dmi.
1679:

May 12th 1680.

The Rtt the Lord Propry haveing recd: a Letter this morn-
ing from Mr William Chandler High Sher. of Charles County
touching a Rumor of the Sennico and Susquehannah Indians
being lately come downe soe farr as the Pascattoway ffort.
The Letter being as foll. viz.

May it please yor Lspp:
On Monday the tenth of this instant in the Evening came
downe from Pascattoway ffort an Indian who informed me
that the Sinniquo and Susquehannoh Indians have built them
a ffort within sight of the Pascattoway ffort, they Judge it to
be about five hundred yards Distance, and about three hun-
dred of them, when our Indians discovered them they imme-
diately engaged with them, wch had been the best part of two
Daies when the Indian came downe, I understand their desire
is that they might have some English men to Assist them,
